This appears to be a survey drawing of the Great Gate which has been copied from <I>Vitruvius Britannicus</I>, vol. III, 1725 as it is to the same scale. However, the decoration above the wall line, including the pediment and lion sculptures, which were executed differently from the printed source when built, are shown on the drawing as a correct survey.
Ware has made a very faint and rough pencil sketch of the wall with the great gate opening, showing how it angled, and indicating the thickness of the wall. This drawing is typical of Ware's own hand when most proficient.
