George Frederic Watts RA (1817 - 1904)
RA Collection: Art
Watts's portraiture won critical acclaim throughout his career. Studies like these, from the 1850s, show a talent for depicting facial expression that is not always evident in his large-scale allegorical works. Watts painted a number of double portraits, sometimes featuring two views of the same sitter.
