This drawing relates to John Maine's sculptures formed of carved cylinders of stone in the 1990s and 2000s. In some cases the cylinders were stacked on top of each other as in Strata (Japan) while in others, like the Howden Sequence (Yorkshire), the cylinders are installed individually, see https://www.johnmaine.co.uk/cv-alt .
