Sir Kyffin Williams RA (1918 - 2006)
RA Collection: Art
Kyffin Williams lived and worked in Gwynedd, Wales. The landscape and the people of North Wales were his subjects for almost sixty years. This painting depicts Dafydd Williams, a hill farmer from the Gwynant Valley. Kyffin Williams described him as 'a slight man, bent from walking up hills and with the sandy hair that made him look like one of the foxes that lived on the mountain behind the farm.' Williams has painted Dafydd as he thought of him, because 'in some strange way' he had become 'part of the ridges, the screes and the cliffs.'
