General Note

This work was originally published in 21 parts between 1794 and 1796. Each part comprised three engravings generally with accompanying letterpress to each plate, but not always. Each part had an engraving of a historical subject, an allegorical subject and a tondo view of a London building. The main engravers of the plates were Charles Taylor, Cantlow Bestland, William Nutter and Thomas Ryder, after drawings by Thomas Girtin, Robert Smirke, Henry Richter, Samuel Shelley and Henry Singleton.

Binding Note
