Heavy paper front cover printed 'Gwilt / on / Caryatides.' The frontispiece is a lithographed plate with three illustrations: a caryatid from the Pandroseum; a caryatid from the Townley Collection; and, the reverse of a coin of Mar. Aurelius. The printer statement appears on the verso of the title-page: 'London: / Printed by J. Moyes, Greville Street.' The work is dedicated 'To / John Britton, Esq.' (p. [3]) and dated Jan. 1, 1822.
