Michelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael
Step into the Renaissance at this Friday night life drawing class.
Inspired by our exhibition Michealangelo, Leonardo, Raphael: Florence, c. 1504, this workshop is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the mindset of a Renaissance artist. Draw from life models posed after Greek marbles and discover the classical influences that shaped Renaissance art.
Artist Marcus Cornish will discuss the influence sculpture had on Renaissance drawing and guide you through a series of exercises which will challenge you to think like a Renaissance artist.
Whether you’re a seasoned artist, or you’ve never picked up a pencil before, this class is an opportunity to practise figure drawing in our beautiful Benjamin West Lecture Theatre.
Marcus Cornish is a sculptor and educator. He is a senior faculty member of the Royal Drawing School and has also taught at the Royal Academy Schools and at the City and Guilds of London Art School. He is president of the Society of Portrait Sculptors and a member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors. Marcus is the recipient of the Henry Moore Scholarship, and has had residencies with the Museum of London, the British Army and HRH the Prince of Wales.
